Exterior Door Makeover

When we moved into our home the one thing I was eager to replace was the front door. Unfortunately exterior doors are quite expensive. So I updated it instead using items I already had.

I had always wanted a door with a dentil shelf. So using extra wood I had lying around. I made my own. I attached it to the door using E6000 glue and finish nails.

Then I added some thin pieces of  basswood trim under the dentil shelf. The pieces are 3 inches wide. I used more E6000 glue to attach these pieces.

I really wanted a door with a window. I had this arched mirror so I painted it to match the door and hung it with screws and the hanging hardware on the mirror.

I painted the entire door in Antique White from Glidden Paints. I am so happy with how it turned out. And even happier with the price tag. Inexpensive DIY's are my favorite.
