DIY Television Lift Cabinet

* The TV lift is from Touchstone Home Products

(Take movie night to another level)

I linked it

We started with 4 2 x 2 pieces of pine and a 2 x 8 for the base. For the back we used a 1 inch thick piece of plywood. We fastened all of this with finish screws. Then added the lift mechanism.

We then fastened another piece of plywood to the front to create the box. I added 1 x 4's to the sides, top and bottom to give it more finished look.

I wanted to give this cabinet some character so I added some trim and handles to make faux cabinet doors. I painted the cabinet in Antique White from Glidden.

For the top I used  a solid piece of plywood and attached 1 x 2's to the bottom. The best thing about this lift is the plate that connects to the lid. So when you raise the TV the lid stays in place.

I added decorative trim around the top of the 1 x 2's to finish off the top. I made it so the top will rest just slightly above the cabinet when closed. The TV lift rises and closes using a remote.

My husband insists on having a TV in our bedroom. I think it's an eyesore. But with this TV lift, he gets his TV and I get a pretty cabinet to hide it in. Sometimes it's all about the compromise.
