I love finding ways to decorate my home on a budget. So when I decided to update the light in my hallway, I searched all kinds of hacks and DIY's to make the perfect light.
This is the light I had but I really wanted a rattan pendant light. But my budget didn't allow for a new light. So I gathered some items I already had and decided to make my own.
I had this cute basket from Target that I thought would be perfect. I set it upside down and used the old light fixture to find where I would need to cut my hole.
I used a sharpie to mark the hole and used a pair of snips to cut it out. I had to enlist the help of my teenage son to cut through the metal bar. It was tough. But we (I mean He) got it eventually.
The bar took a bit of elbow grease to cut. But once we got it we were left with a perfect hole to slide the basket onto the old light fixture.
I decided I didn't like the light bulb showing so I bought a small hurricane lamp shade to cover the light bulb. I found it on Amazon for $15.
This might just be my favorite basket hack of all time. It adds so much character to this small space and only cost me $15 to make.
