Refinished Thrifted Table
Hey friends! It’s been a minute since I’ve posted on my blog. Life gets busy. I babysit my niece and nephew during the week and then with projects and normal everyday housework I tend to get a little overwhelmed. One of those recent projects was an awesome FB Marketplace find that I got for FREE! It was a big project that took a few days but I’m so obsessed with how it turned out. I still can’t believe that it was free. I wanted to give it a stripped down, worn wood look so I used Citristrip to remove the top layer of varnish. And then scraped and sanded, and then sanded some more until I had it down to the raw wood. I then used wood bleach that I got off of Amazon. You can shop it here https://amzn.to/3AU4RJp I did 3 coats on the tabletop. After it was dry I stained it with Behr Pickling Oak stain to lighten it a little more. I repeated the whole process on the base.
For the chairs I cleaned them up with a degreaser and then painted on 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint. I used Glidden Antique White in a flat finish and then sealed the chairs with Dixie Bell Gator Hide. I covered the seat cushions with some amazing covers I found on Amazon https://amzn.to/3zPo4dL.
I am so in love with how this table turned out. And the fact that it was free is just icing on the cake. It fits so perfectly into my farmhouse home. And I absolutely love the worn wood look. This is your reminder to look at the bigger picture. If you find items on FB Marketplace or at yard sales, always look deeper at the potential it might have. One’s person trash is another person’s treasure. It just takes a little elbow grease and creativity.

Thank you for stopping by today and for being patient with me as I navigate this new blogging journey. I love sharing my home and projects with y’all. Don’t forget to follow me on Instagram @simplyminedesigns to see more of my home.
