Repurposed Hutch With Simple Fall Decor
Hello. It has been raining here in Utah for 2 days straight and I love it. We’ve had crazy thunder and lightning, wind and at times torrential downpours. I love rain storms in the summertime. Plus it was the perfect excuse to stay inside and get a couple of projects done. I cleaned and organized my niece and nephews bedroom. In case you didn’t know, when my brother passed away I started helping with my niece and nephew which means they spend a lot of time at my house so they have their own room. I had this hutch in there that used to belong to my Mother in Law. I decided to remove the top piece and put it on my kitchen counter. I measured the space where I wanted to put it probably 15 times. It’s heavy and I knew once it was there it would probably be staying. It took everything me and my 18 year old son had in us to lift this thing onto the counter. But I’m so happy we did it. I love it.
Have you ever repurposed a piece of furniture and used it in a unique way? I love thinking outside the box when it comes to decorating. I did have to repaint it white ( it was black. ) And since I was going to be styling it anyway I thought I’d pull some Fall decor out. I’m keeping the Fall vibes pretty simple this year. Lots of white and neutral pumpkins, soft Fall colors and Fall foliage. By the way, I have a slight pumpkin addiction. And here’s a quick tip…if you have pumpkins but hate the color, paint them. I’ve painted so many of mine white.
This particular one (above) was a bright orange. But I loved the shape so I bought it knowing I could just paint it. It’s a quick and easy way to refresh your seasonal decor. I used Glidden interior flat paint in Antique White. You can find it at Home Depot. It’s my go to paint for all the things. Including the hutch. I’m loving the Fall vibes. Especially with the cooler temps right now. Have you been adding bits of Fall around your home?
This hutch is so fun to style and I’m super happy to have it back in my kitchen where I can display all of my little knick knacks. Don’t be afraid to try new things when it comes to decorating. Even if it doesn’t work out. It’s fun to play around with new ideas. It’s your home and your style. And your home should be a reflection of you and the people who live there.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today. It means so much to me.
