Our week started off a little rough. My husband was involved in a pretty horrific car accident late Sunday afternoon. A 22 car pile up that unfortunately killed 8 people. He walked away from it with only some minor bruising. But he is still a little shaken up. We are just so incredibly grateful that he is ok but we are equally heartbroken for the victims and their families. And for the countless others that suffered injuries. It has been a stressful, saddening situation. And when I feel anxiety or sadness, decorating is my therapy. The past couple of days I’ve been working on styling my little dining area that sits just off my kitchen. We don’t have a very large space and we have a rather small table but I love styling this little area. I added a cute little cubby cabinet under the shelf and switched the direction of my table.

Putting a centerpiece together is something I love to do. The tiered tray is such a fun addition and super unique. It’s from Decor Steals and it just happens to be one of the items available in their new Fall steal it box. Shop for it here. Fall Steal It Box I love that it’s versatile and can be used year round. The flower arrangement is made up of faux stems from http://www.prestigebotanicals.com Aren’t they beautiful? They are so incredibly lifelike. And of course candles and dishes are always a nice touch for any kitchen table centerpiece. The candles are from Amazon and can be found here https://amzn.to/2VjCBQg This space in my kitchen has taken on so many changes over the 12 years we’ve been in our home. You can see some of the changes from the last few years on my Instagram here http://www.instagram.com/simplyminedesigns Like I said , it’s one of my favorite spots to switch around, even if the space is limited. I hope this helps and inspires you to create a cozy space in your eat-in kitchen as well. Or even some helpful tips and ideas to cozy up your dining room.

I’m also planning on building new counter height benches for my table. I can’t wait to show you and share all the details. They are still in the very early planning stages, which basically means just a vision in my head, but I am really hoping to get started on them this weekend. I will try to remember to do a tutorial, complete with instructions, but honestly, most of my DIY’s are just visions that I literally make up as I go. LOL. Are you the same way? It’s funny to a lot of people that I am that way because I have always struggled with OCD. But I will say, most of my DIY’s do turn out ok. And that’s what matters.
