Books and Butterflies Tablescape
Whenever I’m feeling stressed, overwhelmed or just having an off day, I like to be creative. Decorating is an escape for me and so therapeutic for my anxiety. When I get into decor mode my brain starts focusing on creating something from nothing and the focus shifts from negative thoughts to something more positive. Which leads me to this fun tablescape I created using two of my favorite things. books and butterflies. This is the perfect setting for a Spring or Summer brunch, luncheon or dinner party. Your guests will always feel more welcome when they see the time and love that went into creating a special event just for them. And this beautiful dinnerware from Tuxton Home fits perfectly in this ensemble. Along with faux florals, candlelight and book pages, I was able to create the perfect setting for a springtime brunch.
I love the soft glow of the candles and the neutral palette. It creates a cozy, inviting space to enjoy good food and good company. Wouldn’t this setting be perfect on an outdoor patio with string lights, crickets chirping, the sound of laughter and friends and family chatting amongst themselves. To create this space I started with the big lanterns I already had on my table and added the faux florals and candles. I made the book bundle with a couple of old books and used a little cake stand placed inside the lantern to display the bundle. I made the butterflies by cutting out book pages. I used hot glue to attach two butterflies together and tied twine around them for the butterflies antennae. They turned out so cute that I actually ended up hanging them in my nieces bedroom. If you didn’t know, my niece and nephew have a bedroom at my house. When my brother (their Dad) passed away, I stepped in in a big way to help raise them. At the time my nephew was only 3 and my niece was 7 months old. They are now almost 7 and almost 4. Crazy how time flies. But let’s get back to the table setting. The candles I used are amazing faux candles from Amazon. You can find them here https://amzn.to/3cNYoWh they are seriously so awesome.
