Small Laundry Room Ideas

Decorating a small laundry space for the different seasons. And making the space both pretty and functional.

When I say laundry room, what I really mean is a dark little corner in our unfinished basement. Does that mean it can’t be cute? Of course not. Anything to make laundry a little more enjoyable. Am I right? Small spaces like these can be difficult to decorate and keep organized though. So we added a cabinet and a shelf to help keep laundry essentials handy but also keep things looking neat and tidy. After all, this is a room that gets used frequently. Because no matter what, laundry is always there for you! Always. But if I’m being totally honest…my husband does most of the laundry at our house. I don’t know how I got so lucky. Do you and your partner share household chores?

I do enjoy decorating our little laundry space, but I loathe doing laundry entirely. Name that movie. LOL. Perhaps it stems from years of working retail. I worked in the fitting room at Target for three years and it was non-stop folding, hanging and sorting. And before that I worked in the clothing section at Fred Meyer. Do you remember Fred Meyer’s? We don’t have them in Utah anymore. But let’s get back to the topic of small laundry spaces. I dream of someday having a fabulous laundry room that might actually make it enjoyable for me, but for now I’ll let my husband do the laundry and I’ll just continue styling this little space because that’s what I love to do.

Especially the shelf. I love changing it up for the different seasons. I’m not sure if you know how much I love styling open shelving. Adding a shelf in here was probably the best decision for this space. It allows for decor and personal touches that were otherwise lacking. As well as helps hide the unfinished space behind the washer and dryer. I loved being able to style this shelf for Fall. It turned out so cute.

And for Christmas…I’d like to think it makes my husband enjoy doing laundry a little more. Cause let’s face it…laundry sucks. There is no nice way to put it. It’s the chore that just keeps on giving and giving. So why not, at least, make the space more enjoyable to be in.

I hope this has given you some inspiration for decorating your small laundry space. Or if you’re one of the lucky ones that has a fabulous laundry room, I hope this has gotten your creative juices flowing as well. Until next time…hugs! P.S…I’m genuinely curious who does laundry in your house. I’m putting a poll in my IG stories. Head over there to vote. Or leave it in the comments here.
